NAM reaffirms position of principles on the maintenance of peace

Exercising the pro tempore presidency of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM), the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela participated in the open debate of the Security Council on “United Nations peace operations: Women in peacekeeping”, where it reaffirmed the position of principles on peacekeeping operations, which must be executed in strict compliance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

“Respect for the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of States, as well as the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of States, are fundamental elements of joint efforts for the promotion of peace and international security” ,said on Thursday the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the UN, Henry Suárez.
