NAM reaffirms commitment to multilateralism and the UN

As Chair of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM), the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela intervened this Friday at the Open Debate of the Security Council of the United Nations (UN), on “Strengthening Multilateralism and Role of the United Nations “, in which the Movement reaffirmed that multilateralism the UN its founding Charter and the norms of international law, are essential tools in the preservation and maintenance of international peace and security.

“The Movement considers the United Nations, the only global body with universal membership and undisputed legitimacy, as the central multilateral forum to address global issues and the most pressing challenges facing States today, including those related to international cooperation for economic development, social progress, with peace, security, with the peaceful settlement of disputes, with human rights, the rule of law, cooperation and the creation of consensus among states,” said the presidential commissioner for the affairs of the NAM, Samuel Moncada.
